Laura Arminda Kingsley est une artiste dominicaine née aux États-Unis et basée en Suisse. S’appuyant sur la biologie évolutive, les temporalités profondes, la microbiologie et les mythologies diasporiques, sa pratique envisage une humanité consciente de son unité avec la nature et dépassant les catégories hiérarchiques de race et de genre. Son travail résiste à l’idée de séparation, tant vis-à-vis du monde naturel que des personnes historiquement marginalisées par les idéologies coloniales.
Elle est titulaire d’un Associate Degree in Fine Arts de Chavón à La Romana (République dominicaine), d’un Bachelor of Science de la City University of New York – Hunter College, ainsi que d’un Master in Fine Arts du California College of the Arts.
En 2024, Kingsley a participé à la clôture de la Biennale de Venise avec sa performance Desblanqueamiento présentée sur le rio di San Trovaso. Ses projets d’art public ont notamment été présentés dans le cadre de Sculpture in the City à Londres (2021), Tableau Zurich (2023) et Twingi Land Art en Valais (2024). Parmi ses expositions récentes figurent The Recovery Plan à Florence (2025), le Centro Cultural de España à Saint-Domingue (2025), Edition VFO à Zurich (2024), Helmhaus Zürich (2024), le CICA Museum à Séoul (2021), le Berkeley Art Center (2021), le Kamene Art Center à Nairobi (2024), ainsi que l’Aargauer Kunsthaus (2023 et 2021).
Son travail a reçu la Dorothy & George Saxe Fellowship (2012 et 2014), le Kunstatelier-Stipendium de la Ville de Dübendorf, ainsi que le LOCUS Micro-Grant (2021).
