Themes and Process
Boitumelo Diseko's artworks are rooted in environmental psychology and the Christian faith. Environmental psychology is about the interplay between individuals and their surroundings. It examines the way in which natural as well as built environments shape us as individuals, our memories, and the history of communities.
Diseko uses lines akin to contour lines looking at memory encoded onto a landscape. Working in a variety of mediums from painting to printing, drawing, and installation, Diseko draws inspiration from both her experiences as well as the stories she absorbs from the people around her and the literature she reads.
