pastel drawings, family scenes, memories

Young girls are taught to be well-behaved, kind, always gentle and beautiful, like decorations.

No running, no shouting, no mess.

Just beauty, grace... and silence.

The memory of a woman who recounts:

“On my wedding day, I didn't want to go through with it. I cried. I was afraid. I knew I was making a mistake.” "

This series evokes that moment: when you feel, deep down, that you should run away but you stay. Because we have been taught to please, to obey.

The dress is white. The shoes are tight.

So we stay.

No one taught us to remain free.

Untitled (woman sitting with family photo behind) (2024)

A woman is sitting on the floor watching tenderly her child. In the background, her family members look upon her from a photograph.

Untitled (girl running) (2024)

If we had known (2025)

If we'd known that we'd have to look after our children alone, that marriage had so much loneliness and hardship in store for us, would we have made the same decisions?

Untitled (three persons sitting on a bench) (2025)

While waiting for the bus, the old lady scolds the young people. They should do better!

I wanted to run, but my shoes where tied and my dress was white (2025)

This work evokes that moment when you feel, deep down, that you should flee but stay. Because we've been taught to please, to obey.

One step, two steps, who will drive us? (2025)
