An exhibition by Zambian artist and researcher Afulodidim Nikefolosi and French artist and researcher Brice Catherin
The exhibition Decolonial Love invites visitors to explore the complex and often overlooked concept of decolonial love through four distinct series: The Masks, The Baobab, The Beads, and the Tenté Trilogy.
Moving away from conventional representations of love, the exhibition challenges audiences to reflect on the colonial and decolonial dynamics that continue to shape our emotional and relational lives. In a world still struggling to reckon with its colonial past, love — commonly seen as a universal force — becomes a space for reimagining intimacy, betrayal, and reconciliation.

By deconstructing objects often confined to exoticism or neglect, the artists invite the public to confront their own curiosity, questioning the limits of what is allowed and what remains forbidden. In this process, curiosity shifts into intrusion, revealing a lingering postcolonial unease. Yet at the heart of this tension lies a call to love differently—beyond superficial empathy or passive tolerance.
Decolonial Love is not a naïve invitation. It is a provocation—a call to radically rethink human relationships in a world yearning for justice and healing.

The exhibition will be on view until Saturday, 12 July 2025
Exhibitions and events are free of charge. Everybody is welcome.
